The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has extended the window for filing online applications form for the post of Male/Female constables in HP Police. Earlier it was 31 October 2024, 11:59.
It is advisable for the aspirants who want to appear in the HP Police Constable Exam of 2024 to fill out the online application well before the last date of form submission to avoid last-minute rush or server issues due to the high traffic load on the site of HPPSC.
1.) Number of Posts in HP Police Constable Exam 2024 :
- For Males :- 708
- For Females :- 380
2.) Essential Qualification :
- +2 Pass (Anyone who has passed +2 from HP can apply)
Note :- Any Bonafide Himachali who has not passed +2 from Himachal Pradesh can also apply. Only candidates from other states who have passed +2 from Himachal Pradesh can apply.
3.) Age Limit :
Age will be calculated as of 01-01-2024. The age limit to apply online for the HP Police Constable exam differs for different categories. However, the age limit for the male and female candidate is the same in their respective category.
- For General/EWS/ Ward of Ex-SM :- 18 to 26 years
- For SC/ST/SC-ST Ward of Ex-SM :- 18 to 28 years
- OBC/OBC Ward of Ex-SM :- 18 to 28 years
- Home Gaurd (Gen./OBC/EWS) :- 18 to 29 years
- Home Gaurd (SC/ST) :- 18 to 29 yeras
Note :- One year of relaxation in the upper age limit to all categories has been provided and the above-mentioned upper age limits have been calculated by adding one year of relaxation in age.
4.) Height Criteria for HP Police Constable Recruitment 2024 :
As you know there are different Physical standards for male and female candidates in the HP Police Recruitment exam. So height criteria are different for different genders. There is also variation in the criteria of height for a different category in the recruitment process for the HP Police Constable exam 2024.
Minimum Height Requirement of Male for HP Police Constable Recruitment 2024:
- For General/EWS/ Ward of Ex-SM :- 5′-6″
- For SC/ST/SC-ST Ward of Ex-SM :- 5′-4″
- OBC/OBC Ward of Ex-SM :- 5′-6″
- Home Gaurd (Gen./OBC/EWS) :- 5′-6″
- Home Gaurd (SC/ST) :- 5′-4″

5.) Recruitment Process of HP Police Constable Exam
Recruitment of HP Police Constable is to be done in four stages i.e.
- Physical Test
- Written Test
- Evaluation and Document Verification
- Medical Examination.
As you are well aware this recruitment is being done by two departments simultaneously i.e. HPPSC and HP Police Department. HPPSC will be conducting a written exam and all other three stages will be conducted by the HP Police Department.
First of all Physical Test will be conducted it contains two parts 1.) Physical Standard Test where Height, Chest, etc. of the candidates will be evaluated then 2.) Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted where Race, Jump, etc. will be evaluated by the HP Police Department. The marks for height will be given in this process. The maximum mark for height is 6 in the HP Police Constable Recruitment Process. The list of qualified candidates along with marks awarded for height will be sent to the commission.
Then written test of successful candidates of the Physical test will be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Thereafter, successful candidates of the Physical test and Written exam will be called for Document Verification as per the zone of consideration. Document Verification will be done by the HP Police Department. Marks for the NCC Certificate will be awarded in this stage of the recruitment process. The maximum mark for an NCC Certificate is 4. Candidates will get marks according to their NCC A, NCC B, and NCC C level certificates.
Medical Examination will be conducted by the HP Police Department of those candidates who will get recommended by the HP Public Service Commission. This last stage in the recruitment process for the HP Police Constable 2024 exam.
Note :- Final Merit list will be made based on the marks in the written examination, PST- Height marks and evaluation- NCC Certificate Marks.

8.) Physical Efficiency Test of Candidates
Ground Test of HP Police Constable for Males :-
- 1500 Meters Race :- 5 Minutes 30 Seconds (Only one attempt allowed)
- High Jump :- 1.35 Meters ( Maximum 3 attempts allowed)
- 100 Meters Race :- 14 seconds (Only one attempt allowed)
- Broad/Long Jump :- 4 meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed)
Ground Test of HP Police Constable for Females :-
- 800 Meters Race :- 3 Minutes 45 Seconds (Only one attempt allowed)
- High Jump :- 1.10 Meters ( Maximum 3 attempts allowed)
- 100 Meters Race :- 17 seconds (Only one attempt allowed)
- Broad/Long Jump :- 3 meters (Maximum 3 attempts allowed)
9.) HP Police Constable Form fees for Male candidates
- SC, ST, OBC and EWS covered under UR-BPL categories of HP will be charged 150 rupees.
- UR, EWS (not in BPL list), Ward of Freedom Fighter, Home Guard of HP, Other States Candidates will be charged 600 rupees.
